Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Predictions and Rumors

Posted on 07 August 2014 by yizhan

Last year we saw the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 which improved on its predecessor, the Note 2, in various ways and turned a bunch of heads. Following the success of the Note 3 it is only normal that Samsung would be launching the 4th device in the series which would most probably be titled the Note 4.

One more thing to keep in mind about Samsung and the Note 4 is that the company has been at a fairly steady decline recently and it will only go further unless they manage to bring out something revolutionary in their next flagship device and judging by what we’ve heard of the Note 4 so far, it definitely seems like a device that will turn the tides back into Samsung’s favor.

Samsung galaxy note 4

Before going into the specs and technical details of the device let’s get some main things like the release dates and price out of the way. From what has been revealed until now and calculating by previous Samsung release cycles, the most accurate prediction of the Note 4’s release date would probably be set in September and as for pricing, since the phone is packed with so much next generation hardware it is only normal that the expected price would reach at least somewhere around the 850$ mark at initial release.

Moving on to the screen size of the device let’s look at how the previous Note devices have turned out. The Note 1 had a 5.3 inch display; the Note 2 had a 5.5 inch display, the Note 3 had a 5.7 inch display so it’s pretty clear from the trend that each successive Note device has a screen size that is 0.2 inches larger than its predecessor so it really isn’t a far-fetched thought to expect that the Note 4 would be rocking a 5.9 inch display.

samsung_note_4-a

As for the inner hardware specifications, the phone has been confirmed to be running a QHD screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 and Gorilla Glass 3. As for screen technology, there have been rumors that the Note 4 might have a PLS display instead of their traditional AMOLED since it will reduce costs but this is still too soon to talk about.

Going further into the technical specifications, expect a 16 MP rear camera that is capable of recording videos at 2160p at 30 FPS and a 2 MP front facing camera that can record 1080p videos at 30 FPS.

samsung_note_4-b

The Note 4’ll most likely ship with a version of Android 4.4 Kitkat since Android L is still far from official release. Aside from this, expect your regular Quad-core/Octa-core processors and at the very least 3 GB of RAM included if not 4 GB. The GPU will most likely be an Adreno 420 or a Mali T-760 so you judging by these specifications you’ll be able to run any of the latest and hardware demanding Android apps for a long time to come.

An Overview of the Microsoft Surface Pro 3

Posted on 25 May 2014 by yizhan

The question that whether or not tablets would replace laptops has been up for debate ever since tablets have existed. People have always leaned towards laptops as their gadget of choice since a lot of people don’t really like adapting to change whether it’s for the better or worse. Microsoft aims to change all this with the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 and make tablets the gadget of choice for people thanks to the variety of features it has to offer all compressed in an easy to carry and sleek form factor.

microsoft-surface-pro

Getting the specifics out of the way, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 sports a 12 Inch screen that supports a resolution of 2160×1440, the dimensions of the Surface Pro 3 are 11.5”x7.93”x0.3”. It has a pretty decent battery life that can support up to 9 hours of web browsing and it uses the 4th Generation Intel processors. Other than these, it has a built in kick-stand, a full size USB 3.0 Port, a mini-display port and lastly a micro SD card reader. All these features combined make this device something that everyone would want to get their hands on.

The only sub-standard hardware component of the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is its camera. Both the front and back cameras are 5 Mega Pixels so you’ll only get decent shots at best but luckily both cameras support 1080p video recording so it’s not all bad.

The Surface Pro 3 also has a keyboard cover attachment that can bring you back to the familiar laptop experience if you aren’t comfortable with using the device as a tablet. It’s extremely light and has excellent quality but unfortunately it’s not included with the device and has to be bought separately.

microsoft surface pro

One of the design flaws in the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is that the chassis doesn’t have any storage where you may place your pen. Speaking of the pen, it allows you to wake the tablet up, take notes. It’s controlled by Bluetooth, is battery powered and has up to 256 levels of pressure sensitivity.

The kickstand of the Surface Pro 3 combined with the keyboard attachment allow you to place it at any desk and just use it as you would use a normal laptop with windows 8.1.

The Microsoft Surface Pro 3 comes in the following models:

  • 64 GB Core i3
  • 256 GB Core i5
  • 256 GB Core i7
  • 512 GB Core i7

The variety of models ensures that people can choose a model according to their needs and don’t have to pay extra for the high priced models which they probably won’t even use to their fullest extent.

microsoft-surface-pro2

All things considered, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 is a major improvement from previous models with its amazing design, wide variety of features and its ability to turn into a laptop at will thanks to the kickstand and the amazing keyboard attachment. Microsoft has done an amazing job this time around.

Google Contact Lens May Have Integrated Camera And Glucose Monitor

Posted on 04 May 2014 by yizhan

Google has always been the leader when it comes to innovation and uniqueness in technology. Google recently announced about its upcoming product, the Google Contact Lens. The smart contact lens has been reported to be the world’s smallest wireless glucose sensor ever made. The smart contact lens will take the world of wearable devices to a whole new level, and some rumors have also suggested that the upcoming lens might even be integrated with an image-capturing capability.
google contact lens

Patent Bolt recently reported that Google has filed a patent for a series of micro cameras which they plan to introduce in their future contact lens. Although it will be an ordinary camera, but it has been given the name of “image capture component”. It is also reported that the smart lens will have multiple sensors which will enable the wearer to capture images and even control their remote devices with just blinking of the eye.

According to The Associated Press, it will approximately take 5 years for Google to release their contact lens for diabetic patients. The lens will help diabetic patients to keep a track of their blood sugar and insulin level. The lenses are yet to be tested before they are made available for consumers in the market. Google plans to produce lens which will produce accurate results and provide timely information, which is why it will take its time in the testing phase.

google contact lens

One thing which Google will have to ensure is that they produce contact lens which is better than other types of glucose monitors currently available in the market. And for that, they will have to make sure that the lens can correlate glucose level in tears. Testing the blood sugar level with devices which use blood was much simpler as compared to the upcoming device which will monitor the glucose level through tear.

The Google Contact Lens has been developed in the highly secretive Google X lab. The previous inventions from that laboratory include the driverless car, Google Glasses with internet connectivity and Project Loon. Only time will tell that how successful will the upcoming Contact Lens will be. But one thing needs to be kept in mind that not every product which gets patent actually reaches the market. In fact, majority of the products fail to reach the consumers because they do not pass the testing stage. So only time will tell whether the Google Contact Lens reach the market, and if they do, can be afforded by the general public or not.

Laptop Versus Tablet: Which One Is For You?

Posted on 14 March 2014 by yizhan

Since the changes and advancements in technology happen in a snap, many people find it a bit too hard to decide where to spend their hard earned cash. Both laptops and tablets are now becoming essential tools in many areas of life and work. The two are popular within different populations and age cohorts primarily because of the convenience, experiences, and services they present to their users.

online games

On one hand, laptop is a very good choice since it functions the way a desktop computer does. Only it is mobile and flexible which translates to the fact that its user can practically perform whatever he needs to do wherever, whenever. Its mobility perhaps is its strongest advantage. In addition, it allows its user to store bulk of information, a number of work-related files, and even games and other programs. So, if you are after the performance of a desktop computer but the nature of your job requires you to be always “on-the-go,” laptop must be your perfect choice.

On the other hand, tablet is perceived to be the peak of mobile technology as it lets its user do numerous things without having to carry a relatively heavy gadget. Anyone who owns a tablet can utilize it to transfer files, deliver presentations, surf the internet, and play both online and offline games. Moreover, it allows its user to download and install applications which might be helpful, if not necessary, in day-to-day living. So, if you are someone who needs a gadget to stay updated online to know what has been happening to your favorite celebrity, or you somehow enjoy fun games like free online casinos where you can play and win virtual money from slot machines, poker, bingo, and other fun games, tablet might be a better option for you.

online games

Indeed, in choosing between laptop and tablet, at least two considerations must be taken into account. One is your ultimate purpose—if your work requires you to have a stable tool for writing documents, editing photos, making presentations, and keeping quite large files, it is more practical for you to buy a laptop. However, if you need a device only for reading news, viewing films, surfing the net, checking social network sites, and playing games to kill time, it is more logical for you to purchase a tablet.

Apart from purpose, you should also think about your budget. Most of the time, a low-end tablet is cheaper than a low-end laptop, and a high-performance tablet is still cheaper than a high-performance laptop. But a low-end laptop might be cheaper than some tablet brands. So, when you make your decision, take into account the budget you would be willing to allot for your device.

If you still cannot come up with a solid decision, it would be best to delay it. Start reading articles that discuss the pros and cons of having a laptop or a tablet. It would as well be helpful to compare various laptop models and tablet devices as their unique characteristics might aid you make a decision you would not regret in the future.

iPad Air Review

Posted on 09 December 2013 by yizhan

Also known as Apple iPad 5
LTE carrier support
Available as:
Apple iPad Air Wi-Fi + Cellular with 3G/LTE support
Apple iPad Air Wi-Fi with Wi-Fi only and no GPS support

Numbers are incredibly out dated. Apple’s newest full-sized ipad tablet forgoes them and select for the exquisite ‘Air’. There’s a clear reason for this. Unlike previous designs that were essentially have great  improvements, the iPad Air is a completely redesigned tablet and would prefer to play as to how slim and light it is. Needless to say it uses the exact same amazing 64-bit A7 processor like the iPhone 5S and comes with Apple’s signature Retina display, but it is the redundant on weight and lack thereof that’s the star here.

ipad air

Apple has always had good products, and when they weren’t good, they were still pretty good. The iPad Air is no exception. Overall, it’s a great product that Apple has created. It’s very well balanced in terms of specs. This tablet is the perfect combination of power and design.

ipad air

Exact dimensions are 240 x 169.5 x 7.5mm and the overall appearance and feel of the iPad Air is simply soft slick. Apple has once again surpassed itself in the design and finish section. The edging adds in a lick of class and the decreased in weight and narrowed frame mean it is  actually useable in one hand, and that is something no one else is yet to manage with a 10-inch form factor.

The iPad Air is actually a lot lighter than the iPad 4 before it, in fact it’s lighter than all of this other tablets along with its class at just 469g. That’s a drop of almost 200g, or 29%, regarding the porky iPad 4. That’s a major generational leap.

It’s not just the additional weight that has been decreased. The iPad Air is  much thinner and narrower than the iPad 4, while keeping the same screen size. At just 7.5mm thin it truly shouldn’t feel as solid as it does, simply the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is thinner at this screen size.

One of the great things about the iPad Air is that it has 64-bit computing. This new difference really set the iPad Air apart from other tablets and other iPads. There is a lot of power packed inside the sleek and light body of this iPad and it really shows during use. This iPad will run many applications at once and still perform as fast as if it were only running one. Because of this, its performance is amazing. The battery life is also impressive. On stand-by, it lasts a few days, but watching a movie or browsing the web, it lasts about nine hours.

The lightweight measurements of the iPad Air means we shouldn’t look forward to greatness through the speaker systems, however these are typically incredibly good for a tablet. Sound is actually clean and crisp and doesn’t endure through the tinny treble that affected dialogue on earlier iPads. The speakers also provide a mite more bass, which means that voices are deeper and even more accurately portrayed.

There are only a few ‘bad’ things about the iPad Air. One of them is that the storage is too small. The general iPad Air comes with 16GB of storage, which is too little for most people. If you want to increase the storage, the price starts increasing as well, quite a bit. In addition, the camera is only mediocre in comparison to other Apple products.

All in all, the iPad Air is a really great product from Apple. I recommend it for anyone who needs compatibility, versatility, ingenuity, and power in one package.

Take Your Cell Phone Abilities To New Heights With These Tips

Posted on 08 December 2013 by yizhan

Cell phones are something that tons of people use on a daily basis. This is probably something that you need to learn more about, and that’s what this article is here for. When you’re ready, you can read through the advice presented here to help you when you need to work with cell phones.

cellphones

Debrand your phone if you want to increase the memory that you have. This means that you will remove all of the themes, logos and images of the company that it relates to, which will give you more ability to purchase ringtones and images from other providers of cell phone service.

Did you know that the battery in your cell phone has some reserved power? If you find that your cell phone battery is dead, and you have no way to charge it, enter the USSD “*3370#”. You will see up to a 50% increase in power. This reserve power will charge the next time you charge your phone.

Don’t bother with covers for your cell phone’s screen. There are many accessories that can improve your experience with your cell phone; cell phone covers usually aren’t one of them. Most cell phone screens are already scratch resistant, and the plastic cover will only make the touch screen less responsive.

If you are looking to upgrade your cell phone and you are told you have to pay a large fee, you should try to negotiate. Companies do not want to lose valuable customers, so they may be willing to waive this. Even if they say no, it will not hurt to ask.

There is reason to believe that the radiation produced by cell phones could cause brain tumors and other health problems. While there is no direct proof that this is true, it is better to be safe than sorry. Whenever you can, put your phone on speaker or plug a headset into it.

celphone

If you have a smartphone it can be tempting to leave it on all of the time so you never miss any social media updates. This is not a good idea because your phone needs to be restarted every day or two. This will keep unused programs from continuing to purge your memory.

A case isn’t needed for new phones. A hard material such as Kevlar or a carbon fiber is typically used by smartphone designers when the phone is built. Cases can help boost their strength, but they can make using the phone harder. Weigh your options carefully, and make a decision based on the kind of phone you have.

Don’t invest in the most expensive cell phone available on the market. There are plenty of great phones for half the price of a more expensive one. When you purchase overpriced phones, you are generally paying for the level of popularity they have and the brand name. More affordable phones can be just as great, but perhaps not as popular as an iPhone.

If you need to get a new cellphone, look for one of the latest model smart phones. These phones have nearly the capability of an Ipad or similar device that connects to the internet. This will allow you to check your email, pay bills and access online information away from home.

Make sure your plan is the right one for you. There are many, many plans when it comes to cell phones and it is important that you get the one that best fits your needs. For instance, if you text a lot, make sure your plan covers this or you could be left paying a lot of overage.

As you can see, working with cell phones is something that you can easily do. Just take into account what you’ve read here and when all is said and done you should do just fine. You'll be entering into the world of cell phones armed with the best knowledge there is!

Flat Look: Future-Proofing iOS Design

Posted on 27 November 2013 by Ryan Benson

Apple’s iOS 7 has finally washed its hands off the tacky skeuomorphic look and adopted the flat design. It is a giant leap ahead for Apple devices. And we just don’t mean the iPhones and iPads but futuristic devices such as iWatch, iTV, and even iCar. John Ive battled the odds to ensure that Apple’s mobile operating system iOS 7 got the much needed overhaul. But it was not an easy task. After all, Steve Jobs was allegedly a fan of skeuomorphism, as was iOS creator Scott Forstall (said to his protégé). But Jony Ive wasn’t a skeuomorphic fan resulting in what became the much touted skeuomorphic vs flat debate.

ios7With Scott Frostall’s departure, it looked like the pro-flat design team outnumbered the skeuomorphic side. It was about time that the horribly outdated skeuomorphic look resembling real objects, gaudy gradients, and faux textures had to go. Trying to mimic real objects and mislead audience is clearly a thing of past. Instead, iOS 7 sports clean, simple, and two-dimensional interfaces. iOS 7 appreciates the fact that users are interacting with a flat screen and don’t need to be guided to push buttons.

There is no denying that the flat look aligns with Apple’s long-term goals and is not limited to smartphones and tablets. But Apple thinks big and thinks ahead of the curve. Back in June 2013, during the opening keynote of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple announced iOS in the Car which allows iOS devices to work with manufacturers’ built-in in-car systems. iOS in the Car would allow to make quick calls, listen to music, send messages, and access maps from in-dash screen.

Well, and as it turns out that operating system designed to be flat design is much suitable to running on multiple devices compared to skeuomorphic designed system. While the visual design is almost similar to that of iOS 7 on the iPhone or iPad, its UI is strikingly different with big rectangular buttons. Obviously safety is the driving force. While iOS In The Car uses buttons of different shapes and sizes it is easy to quickly and safely push a button without taking your eyes off the road because all icons are flat.

The message is subtle yet clear. Apple is future-proofing its design with the flat look of its operating system. And iOS 7 is a step in the right direction.

iwatch

Easy to adapt to new devices: iOS 7 icons can be expanded both vertically and horizontally. It is easy to fill the blank space with the colors on the edges, making it very easy for Apple to adapt visual language to new devices. Take for instance the long-rumored HDTV, Apple will not have to create entirely new icons for this new interface. Rather the flat design allows them to expand their existing icons to fit any shape effortlessly. This would have not been possible with the skeumorphic design. Imagine the complexity involved in interpreting complicated patterns, shadows, texture, and gradients for each new device.

Does not distort: Skeuomorphism looks strange and funny on curved displays. On the other hand, flat designs don’t distort. While all displays are flat right now, there is no denying that future display will come in all shapes and sizes. Iwatch is widely speculated to be curved. With flat UI, Apple has already prepared itself for future inventions be it curved or 3-D displays.

Wrapping up: Now that Apple has broken the shackles of skeuomorphism, iOS is clearly preparing to embrace the future. Be it curved display or HDTV, or groundbreaking gadgets, flat makes iOS’s design more adaptive to changes, futuristic, and agile.

Pars rescue robot has been tested for the first time

Posted on 28 October 2013 by yizhan

By hearing news about drowning’s at the Caspian Sea (north of Iran), we thought of finding a solution of saving human lives at the sea. For solving the problem, at the first step, we developed a surface rescue robot at RTS Lab as shown in the figure 1, the robot can be drove both manually and by radio control by the lifeguard to move towards the incident. If the victim was conscious he could catch the barriers and comes back and if not the lifeguard had to first find the victim from beneath water then throw him on the device and then return to the coast. After manufacturing and testing it successfully, we thought of building a robot with higher capabilities that could act quicker and more accurate in rescue missions and we came up with the Pars Aerial rescue robot idea.

One of the challenges that lifeguards met is the case of several people drowning at the same time. This event usually occurs when one starts drowning and family, friends or other people go to save the drowning person and they get into a similar drowning situation. Sometimes it can be seen that up to 6 people have drown at the same time, like the unpleasant incident of 6 students drowning together at the Caspian Sea in July 2013.

Pars is an Aerial robot designed and made for saving human lives. The first purpose of building the robot is the relief of people drowning near coastlines. By developing its applications, it can be used in ships and off shore reliefs. It can also be used in other applications such as monitoring of marine and off shore structures, recording films and pictures from dangerous path ways for rescue missions, precise positioning. One of the features of this robot is Ability to save more than one life in a mission it can also track its path by GPS positioning and at the end of its mission it can come back home without the need of user guidance.

The robot’s tests have been taken at the Caspian Sea. Thirteen tests were taken in a 4 day period and the following aspects were analyzed:
Life vest releasing system performance, flight stability, search and rescue performance at day and night, Simplicity of robot’s control, comparing performance with traditional rescue methods, analyzing the deficiencies of robots design.

Pars can fly ten minutes in this design and its maximum speed is 7.5 m/s, thus it can be used in missions with a 4.5 kilometer radius range.  Tests were completely successful and all of the expected goals were achieved. Based on the test results and considering the general rescue methods new ideas for developing Pars were achieved that will be revealed after careful scrutiny.

After completing the design and final corrections we will hopefully prepare the robot for introducing it to international markets although at the moment one of our main problems in this stage is financial support and we are looking forward to negotiate about sponsorship and investment.

The final test compared the performance between robot and human (lifeguard). The goal of this test was rescuing a drowning person in 75 meters away from coastline. As a result, robot done its mission in about 22 second however the lifeguard did the same in 91 second.

We also had another test taken at night. In this test LED Lighting is used to help user have a better sight to find the robot and life tube position.

Future work:

We have considered many designs for the robots future applications for example:

Life tubes to catch the drowning automatically

Increasing flight range and decreasing rescue mission time

Sound and image processing and controlling the robot with artificial Intelligence

Landing on water for emergency situations

It’s noteworthy to mention that this robot is designed for the first time and can make a huge revolution in robot applications for saving human lives.

The robots tests will be broadcasted soon.

After completing the design and final corrections we will hopefully prepare the robot for introducing it to international markets although at the moment one of our main problems in this stage is financial support and we are looking forward to negotiate about sponsorship and investment.

 Owners of idea:

Amin Rigi, Saeid Talebi, Masoud Noroozi, Hossein Saffari, Majid Saeidi, Amin Mirakhorli

The robots design:

Idea: The Savior Aerial Robot (Pars)

An Aerial rescue robot named Pars is being developed at RTS Lab.

Pars is an Aerial robot which is designed and made for saving human lives. The first purpose of building the robot is the relief of people drowning near coastlines. By developing its applications, it can be used in ships and off shore reliefs. It can also be used in other applications such as monitoring of marine and off shore structures, recording films and pictures from dangerous path ways for rescue missions, precise positioning and monitoring of off shore disasters and aid in firefighting.

The designed robot uses new technologies for guidance and navigation. Some of the technologies used are artificial intelligence, sound and image processing, autopilot search and rescue and a wide combination of sensor technologies. The robot is very simple and also very applicable and can play a significant role in saving the injured people.

The Savior Aerial robot is designed in a way that it can quickly move towards drowning people by user guidance and activates its savior system. This system releases life tubes for the drowning ones. Considering that many people drown all over the world every year, this robot can decreases the duration of rescue operations and save more lives.

Applied Innovations in This Method:

1-    The robot has the Ability to save more than one life simultaneously at a mission; for example, if several people simultaneously were sinking at the coast, this robot could send life tubes to each one very quickly.

2-    The robot is waterproof and it can land on the sea surface. When the robot faces an accident or in low battery situations it lands on sea, to not see more damage or sink.

3-    So far 3 pads have been considered for the robot that gives it the ability to save 3 lives in one operation; by using chemical materials for bloating the life pads, the pads can be increased to more than 15 in number.

4-    The robot uses artificial intelligence for accurate analysis of the condition it’s in.

5-    The robot is designed with a FLIR heating camera for recognizing the injured ones at night and also uses LED lightening to be recognized at night and activates its intelligence system when people shout for help.

6-    It is simply installed and applied in different parts related to marine issues, from coastline to installation in the ships and oil platforms.

7-    The robot is controlled from a central control cabin. In ships the robot has special platforms and is controlled from the ships control cabin. In case of an accident there is no need for starting up the robot, it launches from the applied platform and is always ready for flying.

10- The robot can track its path by GPS positioning and at the end of its mission it can come back home without the need of user guidance. After returning, it lands on its platform and starts charging its batteries.

11-  A sea platform has also been designed for the robot. This platform used satellite data for its control and it uses solar energy for its energy. It is always in the water and the robots are ready for action. When a marine incident occurs it quickly operates and sends the robots to the event to help.

12- We have considered many designs for the robots future applications including a robot manipulator and the ability to moving and install savior cables and there connection to other places.

What are the main customer benefits compared to existing solutions?

1-    The surface floating remote control robot for rescue in coastlines: The Emily robot which was made in Switzerland and known as one of 50 best inventions by the Times Newspaper in 2010 is a good example. It’s noteworthy that our robot has many advantages in comparison with the Emily robot that makes our robot unique. We can mention some of Emily’s disability as: 1-Emily can’t save more than one person simultaneously in one mission 2-It has difficulties reaching the injured when the coastline is too crowded.

2-    Related to ships and marine platforms, boats are usually used for saving people. This method takes a lot of time. At the first moments of the disaster Pars can be sent to the incident to do initial aid until the lifeguards arrive. The robot helps rescuers to have better control of the disasters situation and its role is to promote the saving operation.

3-    Saving by Airplanes and Helicopters: This method is one of the most applicable ones for saving human lives till now. The Pars robot plays a role to promote the saving operations here too.

4-    Simple manual control and guidance of the robot, in a way that each person without having high technical education is able to learn how to work with it within a few days and do the saving operations.

5-    The robot is Low weighted and is simply transported.

6-    The robots operation doesn’t depend on coastline conditions as like a stormy sea or a crowded sea (many people swimming in the coastline).

7-    Simple and quick access to the accident location: for instance, if a person falls from high coastline rocks in to the sea, saving the person might take a lot of time but by using this robot the time will decrease and on the other hand we will receive films from the robot that will help us estimate the depth of the tragedy and necessary equipment’s needed.

8-    The robot can be used in crises management for investigating the strength of the catastrophe and saving the injured. For instance the robot can be used within floods or earthquakes.

10-The robot has the Ability to save more than one life within a mission;         other methods don’t have this ability. For example, surface floating remote controlled robots or humans are usually unable to save more than one life but in many disasters many people might need help simultaneously.

How did you come up with this idea?

By hearing news about sunken people in Caspian Sea on the north of Iran, we thought about finding a solution for saving lives of humans who were drowning in the sea. According to statistics of our country, during the last 8 years, 46500 people have been in drowning situations in the Coast of the Caspian Sea and from this amount 1100 have died. For solving this problem, at the first step, we made a savior floating robot of beaches (shown in figures below) after manufacturing and testing it successfully, we thought of manufacturing a robot with higher capabilities that would be able to act in operations quickly and precisely and we came up with the idea of the flying savior robot. Our main purpose of making this robot is to save human lives. It is necessary to mention that before building the robot, we sent the idea of the robot to the first national congress of savior robots in Gorgan which was held by Red Crescent organization. The Pars robot was chosen as thebest idea” of the congress and this encouraged us to build the robot.

5-    Oil and gas industries for marine relief missions

6-    Coastline police

7-    Ship owners and ship makers

8-    Firefighting organizations

9-    National Lifeguard Services

10- Crisis management organizations

Describe the functionality of the robot:

The operations of some parts of the robot have been mentioned as follows:

The Savior Aerial robot and its mechanisms are controlled by motors, sensors, control circuits, mechanical systems and microcontroller programming. The machine uses several servo motors for controlling and releasing rescue pads (tubes). These servos receive a signal from the microprocessor and pull a latch that causes the release of the life pads. Considering the specialization of the team members in making The robots platform is used for charging its batteries while not in action.

The Method of charging: in first mode, the connection between the platform base with the battery is logged off and it will connect when the charge of the battery is lower than a determined limit. The base uses conductive small blocks for charging the batteries.

Does the concept work now?

Manufacturing the primary functions of the robot has successfully ended. Because of the huge amount of the robots capabilities, we have not yet implemented all of them. For example, we have used three axel accelerometer sensors and three axel gyroscope, Gps, Barometer and compass sensors now but we haven’t applied ultrasonic sensors yet.

How much fund is needed for industrialization the plan?

We need financial support and investment for mass production of the plan. All expenses of building a prototype has been provided by the team up to now.

Expense for industrial prototyping of the robot will be around about 30000 to 40000 dollar.

Savior floating robot of beaches: this robot is a floating robot which has been designed and made for rescue missions in coastlines by our research team (RTS). Some weaknesses of similar robots have been overcome in this robot. This robot has been successfully tested in 2012.

In Regards To Laptops, We Have The Best Tips

Posted on 10 October 2013 by yizhan

A laptop allows people to easily move around as they do their work. Whether they wish to watch a movie in the back seat of a car or show a client a new project, a laptop gives them the flexibility they need. This article explains how best to buy a new laptop.

Carefully consider the battery life of the laptop before buying. Laptops that will be used primarily on the go need a batter with a long life. Likewise, if you will be using your laptop in your home or office, you can opt for one that is lighter with less battery time.

If you’re considering buying a laptop, remember that most laptops can’t be used for gaming. Most low to mid ranged laptops lack separate graphics cards, instead relying on ones integrated into the CPU. While this works for most basic users, it’s not powerful enough to play most games. So if you want one you can play a modern game on, you have to remember to find out if it has a regular graphics card or not.

If you’re going to be traveling with your laptop, make sure you consider its weight. Most laptops are quite small, but they can still be pretty heavy. And if you’re going to be carrying it around at school or on trips, it can get quite tiring. So if you plan on taking it a lot of places, make sure you get one that’s not too heavy.

Get on the mailing list of different laptop brands. You will be able to get insiders-only discounts and coupon codes. When you are in the market for a new laptop, you might get just the coupon you need to make a purchase. Sometimes, a good coupon will help you make up your mind.

When purchasing a new laptop, ask if you have the option of trading in your old computer. Many manufacturers will allow this, and it can save you several hundred dollars on your new laptop purchase. The old laptop is often refurbished and resold, meaning less waste going into landfills as well.

Before buying that netbook, really consider whether you’ve got the processing power that you need in the machine. Netbooks are amazing on battery but typically poor performers in terms of power. If you are using the machine for emails and light word processing, you’ll be ok. But if you are looking for more, then another option may be better.

If you plan on keeping this computer for quite some time, make sure it can be upgraded. You may need to swap out the hard drive or add more RAM. These changes are easier to make on some computers than others. Try to get the newest options but don’t overpay for these upgrades that may be obsolete next year.

You must balance the need for security with price when determining whether or not to buy a warranty on your laptop. Warranty options vary from total protection to extremely limited protection. If you are prone to accidents, pay more for the warranty that offers more protection. If you are relatively careful with your belongings, choose a limited warranty.

To keep your laptop from getting damaged, set drinks on a coaster instead of just on your desk. Glasses and cans can condense, and the water that runs down the side of the container can get on your working surface and then run under the laptop, damaging components. Water and your laptop are not compatible.

When you need to buy a new laptop, you have to do it right to ensure you end up with the utility you need at a price you can afford. Each of these tips has pointed you in the right direction, now you just have to go out and shop. We wish you luck as you pick out your laptop!

What Needs To Go Into Buying Your Laptop

Posted on 07 October 2013 by yizhan

What makes a laptop so popular? The most important feature is that you can take it anywhere without having to tether it to an outlet. On top of that, is has all the power of a desktop in a tiny little package. If you want to learn the right way to buy a laptop, read on.

Get the right sized screen when you buy a laptop. Look at the screen of your computer right now, and decide whether that is going to be a good screen size for your new laptop. In fact, take a look at bigger screens as well. Just keep in mind that the larger the screen is, the more the laptop will weigh.

Consider walking into a store and physically trying a laptop, even if you plan to buy it online. Buying a laptop online is a great idea for a number of reasons, but it can be hard to get a clear idea of what the machine looks like. If you can handle it in a store, you will be more comfortable buying it, whether you buy it right there or online.

When you need to buy a laptop, do so with your credit card if at all possible. Since there are many laws in place to protect consumers when they purchase big ticket items with a card, your investment will be safer. Should something be wrong with your new machine and the vendor isn’t cooperative, contact the card issuer immediately.

Avoid using your laptop computer on a soft surface, such as a pillow or bed. Setting your laptop on a soft surface blocks air flow that is supposed to flow through the ventilation holes on the bottom. This can cause your laptop to overheat. When using your laptop in bed, rest it on a book or other hard surface to allow for ventilation.

Consider a touchscreen laptop. More and more software for PCs is being created with touchscreen technology in mind, meaning this option will become increasingly essential as time goes on. By purchasing the technology now, you can take advantage of the touchscreen features and not feel a necessity to re-buy another computer for several years.

Consider online reviews when you want to buy a laptop online. While reviews should be taken with a grain of salt, it can help you see if the model you want is worth buying. Many times, these reviews will contain important information on how great or poor a model is and what their experience was. This can save you a lot of frustration and money if you know what to buy or avoid.

When buying a laptop computer, it is a good idea to consider how you will be using it before you compare all the different models. If you are doing just basic word processing and checking your email, you won’t need as powerful a laptop as someone who intends to play video games.

Consider the operating system. Most laptops will come with one of two operating systems. Those systems are Mac or Windows. There are advantages and disadvantages to each operating system. Consider what you will be using the laptop for, and the features you will require. This will help you make the best decision.

To keep your laptop safe on the road, pack it in its own suitcase; if you do not have a separate laptop bag, then get a padded case for the laptop that you can place in another bag. Make sure that there is nothing else in that larger bag heavy enough to crack the screen through the case.

If you were looking for tips and tricks on buying a new laptop, this article has provided you with all you need to know. Your job is to use that data to buy a new laptop which perfectly meets your requirements. As soon as you do, you’ll be computing anywhere and everywhere!

How Engineering Is Affecting Brain Activity

Posted on 18 September 2013 by Jenny Beswick

The world that we live in is being changed; modern day engineering is changing the face of technology as we know it. What this entails is that huge advances are being made in the health care industry; things that we never thought were possible are being achieved. One of the most fascinating areas of development within healthcare is the brain. The brain has always been a part of the body that we know a lot about, but at the same time very little. Using current engineering technology, breakthroughs are being made which are purely awe-inspiring. Here are a few examples of how engineering is affecting brain activity.

Reverse Engineering

For the last fifty years or so, scientists have tried to create artificial intelligence (AI). Even though these clever machines are now doing more in 2013 than playing a game of chess; in comparison with humans, computers cant think to a high degree. Many scientists now think that not enough attention has been paid to real brains; but reverse engineering can reveal so much about how our brain works. From understanding how our brain works, only then can we then recreate artificial intelligence to a high standard. By using non-invasive methods to measure brain activity is just the beginning; engineers are now being put to the test to replicate neurons ability to exhibit a variety of excitation. When this is achieved, man will be able to bring to life a much deeper thinking level of artificial intelligence.

New laser shines light on Brain Activity

European engineers have produced an astonishing new instrument which can be used for studying nerve cells held within the brain. The tool is the first of its kind; a laser which can simultaneously inserts fluid into cells whilst shining light into them, all whilst recording activity levels. Named the optrode, the device was first used on mice in order to influence their brains. How this was done is through inserting the mice with specific algae genes which are responsive to light – enabling the scientists to measure the electrical activity of nerve cells when pulses of coloured laser light are beamed upon them. There is still a lot of work to be done to improve the device, but the German engineers have ideas that will enable them to work with more freely moving animals in the future.

Brain to Brain communication

Now here is something which will truly blow your mind; brain to brain communication. Imagine this, two researchers sitting at opposite ends of a campus wearing unique caps. Rao, a computational neuroscience lecturer, wears a cap connected to a machine that reads brain activity (EEG). Stucco, a psychology assistant, wears a cap connected to a transcranial magnetic simulation (TMS) machine – a device which sends stimulating signals to the left motor cortex. In short, Rao was able to control Stuccos movement from a completely different room, using the internet as a means of communication. Check it out:

The next step for Rao is finding ways of making two way brain to brain communications possible. At the same time, Rao wants to expand on the intensity of transmittable information – making more complex actions likely. Most probably this technology will end up ushering a whole new era of mind control into our lives; however the scope for using this technology in productive ways is vast. Professor Rao is confident that breakthroughs can be made in robot prosthetics, and even providing blind people with sight.

The Latest Features in Camcorders Today

Posted on 02 September 2013 by yizhan

At one time, the camcorder was considered as a bit of a status symbol. It was a high end piece of technology that enabled people to make their own home movies, albeit at considerable cost. In an age where cameras still relied on 30 picture films, the camcorder was seen as something that could capture fond memories on an entirely different level.

But now times have changed. These days, even fairly basic mobile phones are capable of capturing home videos, not to mention it being a feature on almost every digital camera available. High end mobile phones and cameras are even capable of recording video in high definition, so it’s easy to see why the reputation of the camcorder has taken a bit of a hit in recent years. After all, in the past they tended to be bulky, with short battery life, and in recent years they have been easily surpassed in far more portable technology.

The truth is, however, the video camera has evolved too. If you are looking for the best gadget used for recording videos, then you really need to think about looking at a camcorder to do the job. For a start, new camcorders boast a far superior battery life to those seen in high end mobile phones (which have been virtually reduced to land lines for the amount of times they need to be plugged in to charge!). Then there are other features which are seldom found in smartphones, including optical zoom (not to be confused with the vastly inferior digital zoom), far larger storage options, as well as a multitude of other custom functions including manual focus and exposure adjustment.

These features can arguably be found in digital cameras too, but digital cameras don’t have the form factor that a camcorder does for taking video, making them awkward to use effectively – especially if you’re recording for a long period of time. There are also pocket video cameras available which eliminate the need for a bulky item to carry. Additionally, more camcorders are becoming available with the option to instantly share clips via social media networks such as Facebook and YouTube, and don’t forget that a camcorder also incorporates support for microphones too, which you won’t get with a camera (or a smartphone without some serious tinkering).

So whilst your camera or smartphone can offer great option for taking quick videos, with the prices much lower than they previously were, a camcorder is still arguably the best option if you have a larger videoing project in mind.

Importance Of VSAT Satellite Communications

Posted on 04 June 2013 by yizhan

Also known as Very-Small-Aperture-Terminal (VSAT), is a satellite connection dish whichobtains data from geostationary satellites orbiting throughout theearth. They’re controlled fromisolated earth positions that areattached through mesh systems. They are essentially the most important technological appliance today. These satellites frequency varies from 5,925 to 11,700 KHz, and they also drive facts and figures which range from 56 Kbps to 3 Mbps. Some common VSAT satellites are:
• Asiasat 3S
• Intelsat 903
• Panamsat
• Pak Sat
• Hot Bird

VSAT Satellite Communications are accessible with the use a VSAT (Very little Aperture fatal)antennas. These systems supply voice, data, and video communications to remote positions through geostationary satellites. VSAT satellite communications assist both dwelling and business users, supplying them with speeds as high as 2Mbps for upload and 4Mpbs for download. Home users signal up for service through personal companies that lease their VSAT schemes.VSAT connections can be utilised anywhere in which you have a clear outlook of the southern atmosphere. Because of the intercontinental coverage, VSAT internet is a simple and cost productive answer for enterprise professionals and people to obtain top quality, always-on broadband attachments in localities where there isn’t any landline treatment available. VSAT antennas could be auto-deployed,set up in just a few hours, and set to connect to the internet in less than ten minutes. Internet service by satellite donates you value high-speed internet any placeyou are.

Important things about VSAT Satellites
These satellites can be used for expanse discovering Programs (DIC), Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP), Navigation services, broadcasting TV & Radio passages, Connecting bank parts with one another for ATM service.

Value of VSAT in Business World
Using these satellites the newspapers world has touched the heights of achievement. We can easily see in our every day life the benefits of wireless communications either it is a phone call or video call. All this became likely because of VSAT satellites. The TV channels are doing a great enterprisein reaching their subscribers the best content. The subscriber has to purchase a card to watch their very popular conduit. Its business!
