iPhone 6 Concept Design

Posted on 02 July 2014 by yizhan

When will Apple launch its latest project? The answer to that is still undiscovered as Apple still hasn’t confirmed its release date for its latest installment of the gigantic iPhone series. Will it be called iPhone 6 or will Apple come up with a completely new and catchy name for its star product. Apple dominating the world market with its design and captivating operating systems has a large order on their hands this time. With Samsung and HTC catching up with the competition, Apple needs innovation its product design to bring a revolution in its latest project. Though Apple hasn’t officially confirmed any news, rumors have been out on what the new iPhone will look like and what Apple has in store for us.

It has been confirmed that the new iPhone will step away from its traditional razor look design and will now work on making a bigger phone. Its concept portrays an extension in the size of the new phone where its competitors have released huge devices which are practically more convenient with the customers now. As for predictions and concepts go by the new model will be 5 or 5.5 inches in display which is a step away from previous models and a lot thinner, up to 5.23 mm. So we see how the phone will be bigger and thinner but rumors also have it that Apple will launch more colors in the phone like it did with iPhone 5c.

As far fetched and advance as this seems, the most famous concept includes the iPhone 6 with dual screens. The second screen will slide out from the extremely thin side body of the phone. Along with that, one of the widely adapted innovations of wireless charging goes, it is heard that apple will indeed add this feature to its upcoming model where the phone will charge through a wireless charging mode.

With the latest survey in the US concerning more than over 5000 people who are saying that iPhone 6 is the most anticipated phone ever. As Apple made minor updates to the iPhone 5s and 5c, there is a lot of pressure on Apple as some say that this is a pivotal device in the history of the industry. And as for the body of the iPhone, it is said that it will be made from metal and aluminum given the more angular hard end design.

As per the software features and the operating system goes Apple will definitely bring something new to the table. The new phone will showcase the soon to be released and upgraded iOS 8 which is made in compatibility with the upcoming release.  In regard of new advanced features, the phones display is set to adapt to real life background environment and ditch the traditional home screen menu with an additional iPhone to IPhone app sharing feature that lets to share between your devices. Apple is renowned for keeping its devices a mystery till the last minute so there is no reliability to what Apple has in store for us with the new upcoming iPhone 6. Speaking of upcoming releases, Apple still hasn’t reviewed its release date for its new phone but speculators put it in September 2014 perfectly following the rollout release announced of iOS 8. Apple is known for making a dramatic entry and with its new phone it has the perfect opportunity to be doing so. By guessing and looking at the previous releases it has released its previous hardware launches in events set in September. Nothing can be expected till the end but Apple is expected to bring about a masterpiece this season with its iPhone 6.

Flat Look: Future-Proofing iOS Design

Posted on 27 November 2013 by Ryan Benson

Apple’s iOS 7 has finally washed its hands off the tacky skeuomorphic look and adopted the flat design. It is a giant leap ahead for Apple devices. And we just don’t mean the iPhones and iPads but futuristic devices such as iWatch, iTV, and even iCar. John Ive battled the odds to ensure that Apple’s mobile operating system iOS 7 got the much needed overhaul. But it was not an easy task. After all, Steve Jobs was allegedly a fan of skeuomorphism, as was iOS creator Scott Forstall (said to his protégé). But Jony Ive wasn’t a skeuomorphic fan resulting in what became the much touted skeuomorphic vs flat debate.

ios7With Scott Frostall’s departure, it looked like the pro-flat design team outnumbered the skeuomorphic side. It was about time that the horribly outdated skeuomorphic look resembling real objects, gaudy gradients, and faux textures had to go. Trying to mimic real objects and mislead audience is clearly a thing of past. Instead, iOS 7 sports clean, simple, and two-dimensional interfaces. iOS 7 appreciates the fact that users are interacting with a flat screen and don’t need to be guided to push buttons.

There is no denying that the flat look aligns with Apple’s long-term goals and is not limited to smartphones and tablets. But Apple thinks big and thinks ahead of the curve. Back in June 2013, during the opening keynote of the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), Apple announced iOS in the Car which allows iOS devices to work with manufacturers’ built-in in-car systems. iOS in the Car would allow to make quick calls, listen to music, send messages, and access maps from in-dash screen.

Well, and as it turns out that operating system designed to be flat design is much suitable to running on multiple devices compared to skeuomorphic designed system. While the visual design is almost similar to that of iOS 7 on the iPhone or iPad, its UI is strikingly different with big rectangular buttons. Obviously safety is the driving force. While iOS In The Car uses buttons of different shapes and sizes it is easy to quickly and safely push a button without taking your eyes off the road because all icons are flat.

The message is subtle yet clear. Apple is future-proofing its design with the flat look of its operating system. And iOS 7 is a step in the right direction.

iwatch

Easy to adapt to new devices: iOS 7 icons can be expanded both vertically and horizontally. It is easy to fill the blank space with the colors on the edges, making it very easy for Apple to adapt visual language to new devices. Take for instance the long-rumored HDTV, Apple will not have to create entirely new icons for this new interface. Rather the flat design allows them to expand their existing icons to fit any shape effortlessly. This would have not been possible with the skeumorphic design. Imagine the complexity involved in interpreting complicated patterns, shadows, texture, and gradients for each new device.

Does not distort: Skeuomorphism looks strange and funny on curved displays. On the other hand, flat designs don’t distort. While all displays are flat right now, there is no denying that future display will come in all shapes and sizes. Iwatch is widely speculated to be curved. With flat UI, Apple has already prepared itself for future inventions be it curved or 3-D displays.

Wrapping up: Now that Apple has broken the shackles of skeuomorphism, iOS is clearly preparing to embrace the future. Be it curved display or HDTV, or groundbreaking gadgets, flat makes iOS’s design more adaptive to changes, futuristic, and agile.

In Regards To Laptops, We Have The Best Tips

Posted on 10 October 2013 by yizhan

A laptop allows people to easily move around as they do their work. Whether they wish to watch a movie in the back seat of a car or show a client a new project, a laptop gives them the flexibility they need. This article explains how best to buy a new laptop.

Carefully consider the battery life of the laptop before buying. Laptops that will be used primarily on the go need a batter with a long life. Likewise, if you will be using your laptop in your home or office, you can opt for one that is lighter with less battery time.

If you’re considering buying a laptop, remember that most laptops can’t be used for gaming. Most low to mid ranged laptops lack separate graphics cards, instead relying on ones integrated into the CPU. While this works for most basic users, it’s not powerful enough to play most games. So if you want one you can play a modern game on, you have to remember to find out if it has a regular graphics card or not.

If you’re going to be traveling with your laptop, make sure you consider its weight. Most laptops are quite small, but they can still be pretty heavy. And if you’re going to be carrying it around at school or on trips, it can get quite tiring. So if you plan on taking it a lot of places, make sure you get one that’s not too heavy.

Get on the mailing list of different laptop brands. You will be able to get insiders-only discounts and coupon codes. When you are in the market for a new laptop, you might get just the coupon you need to make a purchase. Sometimes, a good coupon will help you make up your mind.

When purchasing a new laptop, ask if you have the option of trading in your old computer. Many manufacturers will allow this, and it can save you several hundred dollars on your new laptop purchase. The old laptop is often refurbished and resold, meaning less waste going into landfills as well.

Before buying that netbook, really consider whether you’ve got the processing power that you need in the machine. Netbooks are amazing on battery but typically poor performers in terms of power. If you are using the machine for emails and light word processing, you’ll be ok. But if you are looking for more, then another option may be better.

If you plan on keeping this computer for quite some time, make sure it can be upgraded. You may need to swap out the hard drive or add more RAM. These changes are easier to make on some computers than others. Try to get the newest options but don’t overpay for these upgrades that may be obsolete next year.

You must balance the need for security with price when determining whether or not to buy a warranty on your laptop. Warranty options vary from total protection to extremely limited protection. If you are prone to accidents, pay more for the warranty that offers more protection. If you are relatively careful with your belongings, choose a limited warranty.

To keep your laptop from getting damaged, set drinks on a coaster instead of just on your desk. Glasses and cans can condense, and the water that runs down the side of the container can get on your working surface and then run under the laptop, damaging components. Water and your laptop are not compatible.

When you need to buy a new laptop, you have to do it right to ensure you end up with the utility you need at a price you can afford. Each of these tips has pointed you in the right direction, now you just have to go out and shop. We wish you luck as you pick out your laptop!

iPhone 4S Finally Announced !

Posted on 05 October 2011 by yizhan

Apple has finally make public its next-generation smartphone and, as imagine in previous leaks, hail it the iPhone 4S. It has the same looks in the outside and all the new advantage are located inside.

The iPhone 4s attributes a faster Apple Dual Core A5 chip that’s already featured on the iPad 2, an 8MP autofocus camera with 1080p video recording efficiency and a dual-core graphics that promises up 7x better performance.

The most intriguing part is that the iPhone 4S supports both GSM and CDMA networks. No more separate versions for different networks.

Battery life is impressive too ranging at 10 hours on video playback same as the iPad.

Well, for the price — it’s $199 for the 16GB, $299 for the 32GB and $399 for the 64GB.

Apple iPhone 4s specs:

  • 3.5″ display @ 960×640 pixels
  • Apple 1GHz A5 dual-core chip
  • 16GB, 32GB & 64GB internal storage
  • HSDPA, EVDO 14.4Mbps
  • WiFi 802.11b/g/n
  • GPS w/ aGPS
  • Gyroscope
  • 8MP camera with LED flash
  • 1080p video recording
  • 2nd front-facing camera
  • 2 mics w/ noise-canceling
  • Bluetooth 4.0
  • iOS 5

Here in the Philippines, expect the iPhone 4S to be priced just like the same as the iPhone 4 — Php37k for the 16GB and Php42kfor the 32GB mark with the 64GB possibly pricing at Php47k . Pre-order starts on October 7 and release is on October 14 but that’s for the US. It’s still unknown when it will be release in the Philippines but Singapore is getting it on October 28.

It’s now also HSDPA capable  up to 14.4Mbps and EVDO-capable as well so it will definitely be able to maximize the HSPA+ networks of Globe and Smart but my guess is, it will still be exclusive to Globe again.

The bad news is, there is no iPhone 5.

iPhone 4's antenna issue resolved

Posted on 29 June 2010 by yizhan

The problem with the iPhone4’s antenna, loosing signal while gripping lower portion which we seldom do when we are making a call, has been a problem since the day it was released in the public. almost everybody noticed this problem.  Well Apple responded on this issue  and said.

“Gripping any mobile phone will result in some attenuation of its antenna performance, with certain places being worse than others depending on the placement of the antennas. This is a fact of life for every wireless phone. If you ever experience this on your iPhone 4, avoid gripping it in the lower left corner in a way that covers both sides of the black strip in the metal band, or simply use one of many available cases.”

I’ve read some articles from other blogs and found out that by just putting a bumper ( new product by apple for the iPhone 4) it will solve the issue of the antenna problem. The bumper is a plastic strips that wraps around the iPhone 4 and comes up with different colors that gives stylish look for your iPhone 4. The bumper cost $29.00 and only pits with the iPhone 4

As Apple mention, by avoiding to grip the lower left corner of the iPhone 4 or by just putting a protective casing, signal strength will not drop. Well in this case putting a bumper to your iPhone 4 will resolve the issue. hmm… looks like a good investment to me.

Latest from Apple

Posted on 05 April 2010 by yizhan

Many among us has experience the stunning style and beauty of apple’s products iPod, iPhone and Mac Pc. And now, Apple computers released their latest in multi touch screen gadget, the iPad. I we compare, iPad is different from a laptop its more like a slate or other people called a tablet because unlike a laptop, an iPad doesn’t have a keyboard. one more difference is that the way you type and navigate through files and photos on the iPad, you use the touch screen just like in an iPhone or iPod touch, well we can also see that feature in some laptop but not many.

iPad’s multi touch-screen is the same as the one they are using on iPhone, Apple re-engineered the technology for iPad’s larger surface, makes it more precise and responsive.  I has an incredible accuracy when it comes in zooming map, sliding your photos and opening and deleting  your emails.

iPad comes with a 9.7 inches diagonally measured screen and its very thin and light smaller than a magazine.   With the weight of 1.5 pounds and 0.5 inches tin, you could use it almost anywhere.  And an additional slight curves at the back that makes it easy to pick up and comfortable to hold.  One of the best feature of iPad that I like most is the battery life, an iPad can last for 10 hours while surfing the web of  Wi-Fi, watching video, surfing via 3g networks and listening to music. They used the same lithium-polymer battery, its a technology they developed for Mac notebooks computers and applied it to the iPad.

Wireless capability includes a built-in 802.11n, that  takes the advantage  of the fastest Wi-Fi networks. It its also equipped with Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, it lets you connect to some wireless device like wireless headphone or the Apple wireless keyboard.

iPad uses the A4 chip it was design for an extreme performance yet extremely power efficient. It has a performance that you’ve never seen on a touch-screen based device.  And it has a storage capacity of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB big enough for your photos, movies, music, apps, and more. Sound performance is also good, with the built-in speakers that produces rich, full sound perfect for watching movies or listening to music. It also comes with the built-in microphone and a headphone jack.
